What is the digital vignette?
The digital vignette is the plate-bound authorisation for vignette-required sections of the Austrian motorway and expressway network operated by ASFINAG. Instead of a windshield sticker, the plate is stored in the system.
It is part of a dual model: the traditional sticker vignette still exists in parallel. For most vehicles with stable plates, digital is now the standard path.
Austrian toll model 2026: what this checkout covers
This checkout is designed for the 2026 digital vignette for cars and motorcycles up to 3.5 t on Austrian motorways (A) and expressways (S). Heavy vehicles above 3.5 t use ASFINAG's GO toll (kilometre-based).
Special tolled routes (Sondermautstrecken) are not part of the regular vignette. These include for example A 9 Bosrucktunnel and Gleinalmtunnel, A 10 Tauerntunnel and Katschbergtunnel, A 11 Karawankentunnel, A 13 Brennerautobahn and S 16 Arlbergtunnel, each with its own separate toll.

When is the digital vignette most useful?
