Official ASFINAG prices 2026
ASFINAG raises vignette prices annually in line with the consumer price index (VPI). 2026 prices for the digital vignette (identical to the sticker vignette):

Validity rules
- 1-day: exactly 1 calendar day from the chosen start; immediate validity possible.
- 10-day: 10 consecutive calendar days; immediate validity possible.
- 2-month: 2 calendar months; for consumers earliest from day 18 after purchase (FAGG).
- Annual: 14 months from 1 December of the previous year to 31 January of the following year (2026 vignette: 1 Dec 2025 — 31 Jan 2027); 18-day rule for consumers.
18-day rule: right of withdrawal vs immediate validity
Under Austrian distance-selling law (FAGG, implementing EU Directive 2011/83/EU), consumers have a 14-day right of withdrawal. ASFINAG processes the booking in 4 days, resulting in the 18-day rule for 2-month and annual vignettes. Businesses are exempt from FAGG and can choose immediate validity.
Historical development
The Austrian vignette obligation exists since 1 January 1997. The digital vignette has been available since April 2018 for 2-month and annual; the 1-day vignette was added in 2024. Prices are indexed annually to the CPI (§ 11 BStMG).
Service portals vs ASFINAG direct
e-vignette.at is a private service portal, not the official ASFINAG channel. The difference to the ASFINAG amount is a transparent service fee for guided checkout, payment processing, structured confirmation and support.
Ersatzmaut and fines
Without a valid vignette: Ersatzmaut € 120 (cars) / € 65 (motorcycles); if unpaid, fines from € 300 to € 3,000 under §§ 19–20 BStMG. The Ersatzmaut alone exceeds the annual vignette price.
